Our Team Cares for Your Cat(s) Like They're Part of our Family!
Irene E. Schomacker, DVM, Practice Owner
Dr. Irene Schomacker, owner of the Cat Clinic, graduated with a degree in Veterinary Medicine from Kansas State University in 1984. She had decided early on that animals of the feline persuasion were her main area of interest, as she bred and showed Burmese cats for several years.
She spent her first year following veterinary school in a cat practice, just prior to establishing the Cat Clinic of Johnson County. She has been on the Advisory Board for “Vet Forum”, magazine, and a member of the American Association of Feline Practitioners for the past 25 years. Her main area of professional interest is feline internal medicine, and she especially loves being able to help the older kitties maintain quality lives.
Her main area of “personal” interest are her husband and three children. In what little time she has for hobbies, gardening and watching her kids play sports are her favorite pastimes.

Tash Walker, DVM
Dr. Walker joined the Cat Clinic in June of 2008. She grew up in Wichita, Kansas and decided at the age of 5 that she wanted to work with cats. So with that goal in mind, she attended Kansas State University Veterinary School and graduated in May 2008. We were so lucky to snap her up as soon as she graduated!
She has three cats of her own, Brutus (a female despite the name); George, a male flame point with a huge personality and last, but not least, Ishta who is one of Ophelia's kittens (Ophelia is our clinic kitty)! During her free time Dr. Walker enjoys embroidery, quilting, baking and various church activities.

Cheryl Waterman, CVPM, Hospital Administrator
Cheryl has been with the Cat Clinic since June of 1998. Cheryl's love of cats and interest in their care and behavior gave rise to her interest in working for Dr. Schomacker. Her strengths in management and leadership allow her to do what she does best, in an environment she loves. This also allows Dr. Schomacker to do what she does best, diagnose and treat patients, not having to worry over the "business" side of things.
Because of her desire to learn as much as possible about veterinary practice management, Cheryl enrolled in various classes and spent a good deal of time studying and preparing for the CVPM (Certification in Veterinary Practice Management) exam, which she passed in October of 2007, achieving the title of CVPM. As there are under 200 Certified Veterinary Practice Managers throughout the United States and Canada, this was no small achievement.
Cheryl will tell you that she continues to learn something new each day, and that working in the veterinary field with our team at the Cat Clinic is something she absolutely loves. She has a husband and 4 kitty kids at home!

Gabrielle's absolute love and commpassion for all animals is what led her to the Cat Clinic. Her goal is to learn as much as she possibly can about the veterinary world, so that she can do her best for our patients and clients. She has already proven to be a strong asset to our team with her "can-do" attitude and attention to detail.
If you're wondering who handles "vacation reports", etc., that is Gabrielle. She cares for each of our boarding kitties as if they were her own. Next time you're in, be sure to introduce yourself and ask for a tour of our excellent boarding facilities.

Gina, RVT, Veterinary Technician
Gina began working at the Cat Clinic in the Summer of 2010, as part of her veterinary technology education. She graduated with honors in May of 2011 and says she can't imagine working anywhere else.
Gina has always loved cats and has dedicated herself to helping clients with their feline family members; striving to provide excellent care and service for every kitty she has the opportunity to meet. She is committed to lifelong learning in the field of feline medicine.
Gina has two cats of her own at home, Mr. Cat, a 12 year old brown tabby, and Ariella, a 3 year old Maine Coon mix. She rescued Mr. Cat from the streets, literally saving his life (at least his leg) when she found him hobbling around one night and rushed him to the emergency clinic. They have been the best of friends ever since. Ariella is a quirky little calico, who always looks up to her best friend Mister, for his approval and guidance. During her free time, Gina enjoys making jewelry, crafting, cooking and baking.
