Physical Exams/Consultations

The Doctors and Health Care Team at the Cat Clinic feel that, as with your other family members, preventive healthcare is the most important aspect of caring for your kitten or cat. Of course, the earlier symptoms are noted and brought to our attention, the quicker and easier it is for us to begin diagnosis and treatment.

Cats are a species that tend to mask symptoms easily. That is why you need to be fairly observant and always looking for any behavioral changes. These changes may include some or any of the following:

· Change in appetite – especially “not eating”

· Weight gain / loss

· Excessive water intake – or thirst

· Litter box avoidance – or inappropriate urination or defecation

· Diarrhea and/or Vomiting

· Blood in urine or stools

· Lack of interest in grooming

· Change in sleeping habits

· Hiding – depression – lethargy

· Coughing / Rapid or open-mouth breathing

We recommend that you make an appointment with one of our doctors should you notice any of the above symptoms, and a minimum of once per year for the annual exam and vaccinations. If your kitty is 8 years old or older, we recommend a physical at least twice per year.
